11th INSPIRE conference

The 11th INSPIRE Conference (Infrastructure for Spatial Information in the European Community) took place from 6 to 8 September 2017 in Strasbourg, in France.

In the 10 years since the INSPIRE Directive came into force, the range of geographical information available online has greatly increased.

As well as environmental applications, INSPIRE serves a great many purposes in numerous sectors of the digital society, including online administration, transport, agriculture, navigation, regional development, energy, health, safety and security, research and online trade.

The European digital market, like environmental issues, has no borders. Unconstrained access to geographic information is crucial to support sustainable growth.

The BRGM, a leading player in INSPIRE implementation for data interoperability

The BRGM, a leading French player in the implementation of INSPIRE, took part in the conference. BRGM research teams presented the French Geological Survey's know-how on interoperability and INSPIRE-compliant geoscientific tools and services implemented by the BRGM, during the following sessions in particular:

Closing conference of the ENERGIC-OD project

Closing conference of the ENERGIC-OD project

The closing conference of the ENERGIC-OD project will be held during the INSPIRE 2017 conference as one of the preliminary workshops, on Monday 4 September 2017 from 2pm to 5pm in Kehl (Germany)

The project results presented include:

  • The Virtual Pan-European Hub, developed as part of the project to aggregate the 5 national partner hubs;
  • A demonstration on using the Virtual Hub, based on one of the 10 applications developed to test the concept:
  • The NoiseCapture application developed by  the CNRS and IFSTTAR to map noise nuisance by capturing acoustic indicators from users' smartphones.
