The "BRGM Campus" label covers the BRGM's activities to support higher education in the geosciences field. The BRGM develops courses in cooperation with academic players to support training for future specialists in different fields involving soils and subsoils.
BRGM Campus has developed a partnership with the OSUC faculty at the University of Orléans. The new G3 Master's course was inaugurated on 4 September 2018.
New developments for the BRGM-OSUC partnership at the University of Orléans
The new academic year saw a significant development in the partnership between the BRGM and OSUC at the University of Orléans (Sciences of the Universe Observatory in the Centre Region), with the redesign of the Master's course on Earth, Planetary and Environmental Sciences (STPE) and the harmonisation of several existing courses.
Three courses - ENAG-2GR (Geology and Sustainable Management of Mineral Resources), EGERM (Mineral Resource Exploration and Geomatics) and DT (Earth Dynamics23 students have enrolled for the 2018-2019 academic year.
In another new development under the partnership, the BRGM is strengthening its contribution to the Geo2Env (formerly Hydro-Env) and R&E (Risks and Environment) Master's courses
The new G3 diploma course
The 2018-2019 G3 Master's cohort is named after the well-known vulcanologist, Katia Krafft. Nine of the 23 new students will be based at UQAM (University of Quebec in Montréal) for the first semester. While most of the students are from mainland France, this year's cohort includes students from Algeria, Congo, Côte d'Ivoire and Morocco.
For students, the new diploma course run by BRGM Campus and the University of Orléans is more coherent and exhaustive as it covers the two years of the Master's course. It also involves the BRGM more closely in geoscience training and research.
