BRGM pays particular attention to the recruitment and supervision of temporary research staff. For this reason, it has adopted a charter for the integration of post-doctoral researchers in line with good practice.

A recruitment target of 15 post-docs has been set for 2020. From now on, it will be possible to recruit them up to 5 years after they have defended their theses, and the recruitment and supervision procedures have been revised. Recruitment will be carried out within the framework of active research projects or projects that are about to begin, with contracts of up to 18 months.

By bringing in new talent, the French Geological Survey aims to help them at the start of their careers in research and innovation.
