Climate change: the BRGM takes part in several events at COP21

09.21.2015
The BRGM will be taking part in several events at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP21), to be held in Paris from 30 November to 11 December 2015.

The 21st United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP21), to be held in Paris from 30 November to 11 December 2015,  aims to reach a new international agreement on climate, applying to all the world's countries, that would keep overall global temperature rise below +2°C.

The BRGM will be taking part in several events at COP21, including under the "Research for Climate Change Action" campaign launched by the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, which brings French research organisations together under the banner of action on climate change ("La recherche se mobilise pour le climat").

The BRGM has a key role in climate change action

The BRGM is contributing to the efforts of the scientific community to respond more effectively to climate change issues. The first goal is to assess the effects of climate change on soil and coastal erosion, coastal flooding, inland flooding due to water table rise, land movements and geotechnical risks such as clay shrinking and swelling due to successive droughts, and water resources, in terms of both quantity and quality. The BRGM also contributes to the development of technologies that could help mitigate climate change (underground CO2 storage, geothermal energy resources).

Special report on Climate Change / COP21

The BRGM presents a special report on its scientific activities and projects  in the field of climate change, the COP21 events in which it is taking part, and its documentary on climate and the geosciences.
