National Assizes on Natural Risks 2019

The BRGM will be taking part in the National Assizes on Natural Risks (ANRN), organised by the Ministry for the Ecological and Inclusive Transition on 25 and 26 March 2019 in Montpellier, France.

National Assizes on Natural Risks 2019

The event is organised for all players involved in natural risk prevention (local government, central government agencies, professionals in natural risk management, scientists, civil society representatives, etc.) to engage in discussions and debates on the current situation and prospects for disaster reduction. These Assizes are expected to encourage more effective appropriation of natural risk measures by all parties concerned and greater efficiency in collective approaches to risk reduction. They will also provide opportunities to cultivate shared risk awareness by pooling the knowledge of the different players involved in the various fields related to natural risk prevention and management.

The common thread in the 2019 edition of the ANRN will be "adaptation in local areas for a resilient society".

The BRGM will be taking part in the ANRN on 25 and 26 mars 2019 in Montpellier.

BRGM involvement in the risks topic area

The BRGM implements research programmes and decision-support and diagnostic tools to anticipate, prevent and manage surface and subsurface risks of natural and human origin. We study risks, both natural (earth tremors, eruptions, tsunamis, coastal flooding, cavity collapse, ground movements and slope erosion, clay shrinking and swelling, coastline retreat, etc.) and of human origin, as well as the impacts of climate change on these risks.
